Looking through the results after my workout I decided to add a couple more parameters to the Elliptical tracker. Luckily with the parser it's fairly simple.

You can now record average speed and watts for your workout.

Average speed can have a unit of either mph or kph (as always spaces between numbers and parameters)

Elliptical - a couple more parameters

Posted on December 12, 2007 19:29 by gtFtr

As I was curious about other programs on my Elliptical I tried the Calorie Burner this evening. Out it hurt! But it also meant I had to add a new option to the program parameter so as well as FB (for Fat Burner) you can now use CB (for Calorie Burner) and Heart (for Heart Zone Training)

The good thing was it showed it's working as planned to add new parameters. The bad thing is that I have to work out a couple more kinks in the parameter options because there are some other things I want to track that don't quite fit into the plan... more on the soon I hope ;)

Elliptical

If you want to track sessions on the Elliptical use the following format

@gtFtr Elliptical FB Lvl 5 1.3 miles 195 Cals HR 137 22 mins Speed 3.5 Watts 60 #Wow that was average

  • Elliptical - this tells us what the exercise is
  • FB - it's the program on my Nautilus called "Fat Burner". Also supports "CB" (Calorie Burner) and "Heart" (Heart Rate Training) (If you use a different program or want to filter differently just let me know and I'll add them to the parser)
  • Lvl 5 - the average level that you completed this session at (Lvl or Level are both okay)
  • 1.3 miles - how far did I go. We understand "Dist 1.3", "1.3 miles" or "1.3 km" but the units don't actually matter (please keep them consistent for now. Conversions may come later but not yet)
  • 195 Cals - how many calories did I burn. (Cals, Cal or Calories are all acceptable)
  • HR 137 - average heart rate during the session
  • 22 mins - how long was I pounding away for. "Time 22", "22 mins" are both acceptable. At the moment only in minutes please.
  • Speed 3.5 - What was your average speed. You can add "mph" or "kph" depending on what measurement you prefer
  • Watts 60 - How many watts were you burning on average.
  • # wow - anything after the # (pound/hash) is treated as a comment
In most cases the order the parameters appear in isn't important, and with thing like calories and HR you can put the letters before or after the numbers. It's important however that you don't add random parameters, or put in the name of a parameter but don't give the value. Oh, and spaces between everything please ;)
